Default clickable flash movie in the html code?

I've been trying to embed a swf file on a webpage, but I want to be able to add a link on the movie. href doesn't work on the object tag so I used css to create an invisible layered DIV (using z-index) and I can setup link on it. It's basically an invisible link area that is placed above the movie. This works perfectly in FF, but not IE.

Does anyone have a solution for IE? Adding a link button in the actual swf file is not an option. Thanks!

If you are using Camtasia there is a much easier way to input a link. Here are the steps:

*Be sure to be where ever in the movie that you want the link to show up..I would assume this is towards the end.

*Go to the left and go to "Callouts" and click

*You will see a green plus sign....click this...you can add as many various callouts, links as you want but each one will have to be added with the green plus sign

*After clicking the green plus sign, look about 3 inches down the page in about the center and you will see "shapes".....click here

*Scroll down until you see 'transparent hotspot' ..click on this...this will allow you to put whatever text you want in the box to link to

*After that, go down to the bottom of the page until you see 'transparent properties' click here

*You will see a box that says 'pause at the end' ...make sure this is checked..this should pause at the end of the hotspot...then, click on 'jump to url' and enter the URL that you want to link to

    *Hit finished

Lastly, keep in mind that once you do have a hot spot, say, at the end of the video, the video will over run that hot spot and your link will not work....so, to bypass this you will need to expand the hotspot (link) as long as possible and may even have to trim a couple seconds off the end of the video to make sure the hotspot doesnt fade before the video ends....this will ensure the link is still there even when the video is done

Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to hit me up on Skype/Im/Yahoo

You could also upload your video to Viddler.com - The best way to watch and publish your videos you can then make a small logo for the video and link it to wherever. Keep in mind that the logo will be used on all of your videos so if you wanted multiple ones for different sites and links you might need multiple accounts.

I am not using camtasia. I just had an avi file that I converted to swf using a free converter program.

I'll look into viddler to see if I can do anything with it. Tks!
