Limiting posts on my WP news page

As with most WP blogs, I've designated one of my pages my 'news' page.

At the moment all of my blog posts are displayed there in their entirity. I'd like to change this so that only the first few lines are displayed and a reader has to click on a particular title if he/she wants to read more.

I've been able to do this in each post category by using the_excerpt, but this doesn't seem to work when you're trying to ammend the look and feel of a generic news page.

I've also changed the option under the Reading Settings so that each article in a feed shows a summary, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Any thoughts at all?

You can add the...

<!--more-->

...tag in the article where you want the article to break on the news page.

Well if it is a certain page template then you can change the code itself to show excerpts instead of content.

Not sure if you want something shorter than excerpts.

What is the code from your "news" page template? If you post that, I can show you where you need to make the changes.

You can use the advanced excerpts plug in too.
