WordPress Loading And Caching Times

Hey all, has anyone else noticed some seriously slow loading times on wordpress sites lately?

I've noticed it across the board on my sites regardless of which host account I'm on, and especially the notable difference on sites that only use WP in the blog/news area.

I realize there is some plugins that are supposed to help with this, but honestly I get sick of updating and maintaining buggy plugins and for that reason have been not using WP much - does anyone see this or is it just me?

Assuming others are experiencing this problem lately, does SuperCache work without any hiccups?

SuperCache "can" help. You have to pay attention to the compression settings though. I've downed a website and did not notice for days. I could view the page just fine, but visitors using other browsers were totally unable to view anything on the page.

If you're having issues with load times, you might be well off checking the databases - cleaning them up or running a repair. Also, make sure your plug-ins are all up to date, as the slower load times could be symptoms of a different sort of problem.

Checking the databases is a good idea I'll do that, keeping dozens of wordpress sites updated is kind of time consuming considering all the version updates, plugin updates, etc.

Yeah, i have notice that, takes some time to connect to the site, didnt before and im not using any plugin, could be server side tho

It's not server side for me, since my non WP sites load instantly.

I'm not sure what to do except maybe stop using WP here honestly, I don't have time to update 50 sites plugins all the time lol. Especially all these minisites, I was using WP because it was easy to put up a lot of sites fast tweeking out existing themes but I guess not.

Anyone else noticing this? I think it's fairly damaging in the serps to have these long loading times. Any other suggestions?

Long loading times are bad for everything. I use Wordpress for a blog or two here or there, and for a site or two where I want my writers to be able to update the content. But for my serious sites, I do static sites that I build myself.

I guess I'm old school, but my pages on my serious sites load fast.

I just remember that you can use Firebug/Firephp to check you site.
Just download the firebug plugin to firefox and then also install firephp.

access you site and then just click on NET in you firebug and reload site, you will see graphs and shit.

I've been working hard at getting up one page on a lot of my unused domains but these slow load times are driving me NUTS. I could live with a little bit slow but these sites are loading like 10-15 seconds for me a lot of the time and I really don't have any clue what to do about it.

This might sound silly but I think we encountered a similar problem. For some reason the loading times only affected us because we were logged in. For visitors it was fine.

We could be talking about completely different things here but it is worth a shot to log out and have a crack. Your loading times were fine for me.

Doesn't sound silly seems reasonable, curious to see if others say it also loads fine. I've got over 50 one page sites like this aging on WP default themes for "later" and it's driving me nuts.
