    Default Pages versus Posts

I know by the very definition of a blog it's designed around posts, but say if I wanted to write something which I thought was of high importance and where I could foresee that it might not frequent updates. Say About Poker Seo. Should this be done in a Page instead or in a Post - personally I'm not too sure, so hence I ask the fountain of knowledge that's in the PAL forum?

Well usually if i make an important page i try to make it easy to access for a user.

It probably depends on your layout, but if you make a hundred more posts the user will have to click through a lot of pages to find your post, unless they find it from google of course.

Cheers Assassin. That's pretty much the reason why I was thinking I should make an important entry a page, but on the flip side I was thinking doing items other than about, contact, advertising type stuff in pages is sort of going against the flow of a blog, still I think on balance you're probably right.

Just wondering if there's any sort of halfway-house solution?

Well i think it really depends on your layout and structure of your site.

But maybe you could have a page named Featured Articles or something and list the really important articles you want people to read, all while adding more posts

    I duno just a suggestion

That sounds like a very good idea. Thanks.

What would you be doing differently with the static page than you would be accomplishing with a category or tag page?

I don't know if Assasin really meant to have a Featured Page exactly. My take on it, or at least how I was thinking of implementing it would be to just make these important entries just the same as regular posts, but to have them easily accessible by putting them on the main menu with the menu heading of Featured Posts or something like that. And yes they could and probably should be put in a special category too.

I can see the advantage of putting it on the menu. That makes sense. And using a static page would certainly be much easier than hacking the theme to insert a link to a category or tag.

I'm not even using a static page. The menubar plugin allows me to put non-clickable items in the menu so that's what I'm doing. I have non-clickable menu heading of Featured Posts - just one post there at the minute!
