    Default preventing hotlinking

    Hi,

I noticed some of my images were hotlinked to and I want to prevent it/let people know the images are from my site.

I followed this guide: prevent hotlinking

Changed the .htaccess and made the showpic.php, but all I get now when clicking the hotlinks is an internal server error. What am I doing wrong?

That guide seems a little complex, you can do it just with .htaccess:

Joomla! • View topic - FAQ: How to I block direct hot linking to image files using .htaccess?

I know it says Joomla, but the technique works with anything on Apache that can use .htaccess

Caveat: I haven't done this myself, but was pointed at that posting by someone who had!
