Default What WP Plugins do you ALWAYS use?

Just trying to grasp my WP setup. I use pretty standard plugins but I'm interested to see what everyone else uses.

Here are the ones that I use on every website:

    1. All-in-one SEO
    2. Google XML Sitemaps
    3. Broken Link Checker
    4. WordPress Database Backup
    5. Wordpress Automatic Upgrade

I, like several other PAL members don't like some of code bloat and "lack of control" that WP can take away from you.

Trying to make sure I'm setting up my WP sites effectively.

Automatic Upgrade plug in isn't needed with the new Wordpress versions anymore.

Why don't you try Joomla? Pretty easy to set up a website with it, and they have a solid community to help you with any questions.

I'm quite happy with WP, I'm just looking to use it more effectively.

    I use

    1. Headspace
    2. Google Sitemap
    3. Redirection
    4. Contact-form 7

Use WP backup sometimes and a few others. Experimenting with translator plugin recently.
Buying all kinds of sites - poker/casino/sports/non gaming. Large budget. PM me with what you've got.

Wow, that is what I hate of joomla, not as easy as WP by far, and a very unhelpful community, I sent about 10 questions at the joomla forums and all except one are still (2 years now) without answers.

On a developer POW, things like "list all post from this category, show category image, .." are very difficult with joomla and easy with WP. To create a top list is very difficult in joomla.

Also sites are very slow. Joomla sucks unless you are writing a news site with many editors and publishers

The only plug in I use is HeadSpace2. Its much better than All-in-One SEO which has many limitations and not enough features. On sites where needed I might modify the functions file or add a simple custom plug in, but I don't find need for many plug-ins any longer.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

    I use:

    All in one SEO
    - Be sure to turn off any no-follow settings it checks by default)

    Contact Form 7
    - Light weight contact form, best I've used to date.

    Google XML Sitemaps

    My Page Order
    - Very easy way to drag/drop to reorder pages/subpages

    Redirection
    - Automatically create 301's when you rename page/post slugs
    - UI to creating manual 301's for affiliate links

    SimplePress Forum
    - Feature rich forum software for WP
    - Great development team, consistent updates

    Theme Tester
    - Great for testing new themes without affecting the user experience.

    Ultimate Google Analytics
    - I like that this plugin disables the tracking code for logged in WP admins. I visit my sites a lot (especially the forums) and don't want to throw the numbers off.

    Wordpress Database Backup
    - Must have

    Yet another related posts plugin
    - Logical association of similar posts to drive traffic deeper into your site.

    WP Poker League
    - Manage poker league events, results, leaderboards. WP Poker League website.
    - My own plugin, shameless plug
