    Default Help? Changing CSS file changes nothing??

    I've never encountered this before. I am working on a friend's site and changing the css through the editor in WP. All changes I make produce no change in the website when loaded in a browser. I have checked the actual CSS file and it is indeed changing. I am loading the site in different browsers so there is no cookie issues and there is no caching plugin so that's not the problem.

    I even deleted the entire css file and the site still loads fine. Can anyone tell me what might possibly causing this? Because it is hurting my head and making me want to throw my mouse a little bit. Thanks.

    agree with the above poster - another css file MUST be being loaded and taking precedence - this would explain why your changes and deletion are having no effect

    CSS files get cached in the browser and you should always force the browser to reload all files to make sure you are loading a fresh copy of the style sheet. Shift-reload on a PC, mac?? Probably command-reload. I'd check that first.

    Another css file was obviously my first thought, but I cannot find anything. I am getting ahold of the original theme files later today and will scour them to try and find a hidden css file somewhere that is not showing up in the WP admin.

    Bit late to the party, but as someone else mentioned this can happen when another css rule has already been defined for the element you're trying to modify. In this case you can force yours to take precedence by specifying !important to the end of the rule.

    ie,
    body {
    width: 1024px !important;
    }
