Implementing Foreign Languages On Sites

Does anybody have a link to a tutorial on how to do this?

I've recently had some translation work done for a few sites and want to start putting the content live.

I understand I'll need to create a new directory at the root for each language I want to put on site, but after that I'm kinda clueless.

Any help would be great.

There are 3 ways of adding other languages to your site.

1. Add it to a new domain with the local tdl. For example pokerdomain. de
2. Adding the content to a new directory on your existing domain. Example: pokerdomain. com/de/
3. Adding the content to a subdomain. Example: de.pokerdomain. com

Each of the three options have benefits and drawbacks.

But I guess you are looking to go with option 2?
You are correct in that you need to create a new directory on your existing domain.
In that directory you can upload the translated site very easily. Are you running it in Wordpress or any other CMS you can install it in that new directory without any problems.

But to answer your question in a better way, in what way is your site built? Pure HTML, Wordpress?

Then just upload a fresh WP into the new directory. It's just like setting up a WP in the root folder.

Hey man, thanks for the help thus far. Ok I've created a new wordpress installation and uploaded my theme. In terms of plugins and posts etc, do I need to do all of them one by one again or is there some way of importing all my existing posts so that i can just change text and metadata?
