Feedback on this header design

Here are the first items i got back from my designer for the logo for badvariance.com

Which of these shall iget him to expand upon?

I like 2 + 3, if I had to choose I would probably go with 3

I like 2 & 3 as well. I think you can't go wrong with either.

2 or 3 look great to me. Kind of depends what the color scheme of your site is.

site color scheme is most like to be the same as www.badvariance.com currently, however, i can easily change the bg and border colors to change the look

I would go with number 1. Think it looks the cleanest/classiest and think this fits best to your audience. If I would have been given the blue one, I'd definitely change the background color. The third one looks younger/more playful, which doesn't do your content justice IMO.

But then again, I have a space craft as a header myself .

Yeah, if you are using the Thesis theme and keeping the layout I would go with #1 as well.

#2 + #3 are still nice, but #1 would suit the site much better.
