After contacting you the first time about your other logo, my advice:

    1. Save the PSD. Save it twice or three times in a few locations. Make sure it is layered well to make the changes easy and quick to make.

    2. Quite honestly, this text logo looks super simple. You'll spend too much time trying to cut it out and it'll still look like crap afterward. Someone already suggested it, but +1 to just remaking it. It'll be the fastest and most efficient way to do it.

Is there a better, more efficient way of achieving the same effect? Something to do with changing layer levels maybe?

    Cheers,
I already kind of mentioned in my last post, but be sure to give separate layers for almost every aspect of whatever it is you're doing.

For example, in the right layer sidebar you'd see something like (probably in this order as well):

    * gradient (the 2.0 gloss over the text)

    * text (your logo + layer styles if you used them)

    * bg (this is the dark colored background you're trying to remove)

That way every aspect is changable. The more layers you have, the more inclined you should be to using folders. This will keep everything neat and easy to find.

    Hope that helps.
