    Default File Extension Problem

I am having some problems with a site that I recently transferred to a new hosting account.

A lot of my older sites have no file extension on the inner pages, and when I transferred the domain the inner pages stopped working (unless I added .php to the end of them).

I tried googling this problem but not really sure I came across the right information and it is all gibberish to me - Content Negotiation

Does anybody know how I can fix this or what my problem is so I can phone godaddy support and ask?

Let me know if you would need to take a look at the site I am talking about and I will PM you the URL

    Thanks for the help

Is this a linux server you have on godaddy? Was your old server linux based?

Are you using a CMS? Wordpress, Joomla?

How many pages are we talking about? I have had this happen from time to time but only on a small scale. I always have just added the extension. I really think that is your best bet.

Would adding the extension affect the site in the SERPs? Are they viewed as two seperate pages when the .php is added?

Yes. I'm sorry I can't offer help here, but yeah that's not a good thing.

What? It seems to me that it is just an issue with the new system reading the pages. For some reason the extensions were "dropped" when carrying the new site over. adding the extension is just telling the site what sort of file this is.

How do you come up with the idea that it will be seen twice?

Maybe I am misunderstanding something, where are you adding the .php to? The URL or the file itself?

It was my impression that you were basically renaming the file to included the .php and then the page was working.

If that is not the case then is sounds like an issue as someone said before with the .htaccess file.

If anyone else has this issue, the code is listed below:

    PHP Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond
    %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -
    RewriteRule
    (.+) /$1.php [L
