Published /de/x-y-z or /fr/x-y-z posts never ping

Hey Guys,

I'm using the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin, which allows you to specify language of post, and modify URL structure accordingly.

What's tilting me is that when you add a post, select german for example, and publish mysite.com/de/x-y-z, it never pings the search engines.

Only mysite.com/x-y-z will ping the search engines.

Any Ideas ?

Have you asked in their support forum? It seems to me that it should be pinging.

WPML is cool but there are some major issues with it. I'm going to uninstall it and switch to the qt translation plugin.

Reasons:
If you translate say only one page in German from English, only that page shows. There are severe structure issues with standard themes. You need to use themes designed for it. Forgot the name right now, just don't feel like looking it up for this post.

For me it's the other way around. I actually moved away from qt because of major issues it had.....

WPML works great but doesn't ping for localized posts. My coder is still looking into it.

We had a *ton* of problems with qt and just gave up on it.

One problem was that the translated pages wouldn't index and just show up an EN version instead with a redirect link to the /de/post for example.

So far, it seems I haven't found the perfect plugin for translating a WP site.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Well yeh that is true with QT, it really sucks if you don't translate every single page.

Either way its all annoying unless hard coded. Someone suggested multiple wordpress installs for each language. Thought that was an interesting idea.

No replies even on the plugin's forum.

Can anyone get their localized posts to ping using Wordpress ?

It seems they never ping and Google ends up finding them 2 weeks later (if you don't link to them)
