Help - Category Base Killer Plugin

What I want is this - I dont want the urls to have the word category in them if possible, especially the categories - so when someone clicks on say casino news - the url should be

mysite.com/casino-news/

followed by mysite.com/casino-news/url-goes-here/123

Now I also need the pagination to work properly - and just found out it doesnt when "category" is removed from the url

What options do I have if any>

OK Well I found a plugin but if anyone can give me instructions on how to do it without a plugin I would appreciate it. I want the word category removed from the urls while maintaining pagination.

Here's a hint - hack the plugin and then add it to your functions rather than as a plugin - its a fairly simple hack to get it to work
