Jay: Yeah I had to remove the header thing as after testing it in IE it wasn't working. I'll fix that this week. I'll look into phpzon.

kdollar: Yep got Adsense to add to the site in the future as well. I agree with you on Adsense - I have it on some sites just now and I'm always amazed at the clicks it gets. Really the first 3 months of this will mostly be "bla bla added content yawn" haha, as he wanted me to do it over 12 months so I've decided to really pace myself with the site.

Awesome read. I have a deals site and right under the deal I have adsense, it gets a surprising amount of clicks. You could also try that to further monetize.

very cool and I hear you. Seriously looking forward to keeping up with this sites progress. *i clicked the header from within one of the pages and it didn't take me back to the home page, had to click the 'home' button.

there is also an amazon version of phpbay pro now called phpzon but it is still in beta and I haven't set it up yet.

Thanks Jay :) Yeah I have PHPBay Pro already and it is awesome. I'm going to integrate it into this site in the future - as it's more for an educational purpose I'm going to be taking it slow in regard to adding new features etc to the site. Actually the next 2 months will most likely be purely adding content, so I can hopefully get it into the heads of the students just how vital content can be, and how dynamic content driven sites like this(by that I mean I never have to think about content - it's always there for me to post) thrive on it and that's what is most important.

Looking forward to trying out a few things with this site. I really don't care if it makes a profit or anything so always fun to experiment AND write about it :)

Awesome case study Graeme. May I suggest hooking up with the phpbay plugin and the ebay affiliate network.

Not only can you earn a commission off of everything purchased, you can also earn a CPA (ebay calls them ACRU's) of up to $50 depending on the quality of your traffic. Add in another revenue stream.

We have less than 7 or so mini little ebay sites, haven't touched in months still pulling down around $700 per month collectively. I put up a tutorial on phpbay pro a good while back...

I think it would be the best $79 you've invested in a while if you don't already have this yet. Slap the phpbay results beneath the email harvesting field you have there and bank.
